It’s estimated that, in the US, there around 91,000 crashes every year are caused by fatigue and drowsy driving. In 2017, there were 795 deaths caused by people driving when they were too sleepy. More than half were in the late fall and nearly all were either between 6:00am – 9:00am or 5:00pm – 8:00pm. These time periods are known as ‘Peak Sleepy Times’. I know, it’s an awful name, but it is straight to the point. Can anyone guess why the late fall is usually the worst time for this? There are 2 reasons why the drowsy-driving numbers spike in October and November in the United States.
